I was returning from a paid “formal / posed” photo shoot where everybody was dressed up and super stiff when I saw this family walking down the dirt road leading to my home.

​I had never seen this family before – they were out of town relatives visiting some neighbors of mine and out for a walk. I asked if I could shoot some quick portraits – they agreed.

When I opened their photos on my computer I was smitten by the authenticity of a relaxed family in casual clothing walking on a dirt road. 

​I immediately decided to stop shooting paid gigs of smiling families dressed up and posed in beautiful settings – It was time to take a break and start a passion project shooting authentic photos of families on the local lonely road of their choice – for free,.. The “Lonely Roads” photo sessions have paid me in pure joy. I encourage you to find a passion project – make art for the joy of making art…
